The Heerema Group of companies designs, fabricates, transports, installs and removes facilities for the exploitation of oil and gas at sea. For six decades, we have been serving the world’s leading energy firms and national oil companies in the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, the Far East and Brazil. The organization of the Heerema Group comprises Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) and Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG). Individually, these companies work at the forefront of their industries, helping their clients to safely operate at greater depths and in tougher environments. Together, they exchange expertise and talent, and co-operate on complex projects. We operate around the world and employ more than 2,000 people. Historically we have always been at the forefront of new developments and our ambition is to maintain that position. All new employees participate in a divisional orientation program. This program offers you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the various activities in the division and the activities of the Heerema Group. Our employees are periodically assessed on the basis of a set of performance management criteria. Three aspects of employees’ work are rated how they have contributed to the reputation of Heerema, how the work is done and the extent to which employees have met their personal targets. Employees’ achievements and performance determine the personal bonus and the increase of base salary. This way, employees continue to benefit from their good work. The performance management discussions are also used to discuss personal development and the outcome is often fed into a personal and professional training program. A Personal Development Plan is created to clarify learning objectives and educational needs. Some roles can have different growth paths within the company. As an engineer, you can transition into a commercial role and apply technical expertise in a sales setting. Alternatively, you may want to move towards project management or invest in your knowledge and become a specialized engineer. Coaching and mentoring are part of our development strategy. We want our people to develop beyond their immediate area of expertise and have a great career. Employees who are clear about their ambitions, for example by using a Personal Development Plan (PDP), will be supported in realizing them. The Heerema Group of companies offer different structured development programs. Professional skills programs are delivered at a divisional level and aim to develop and enhance your professional skills. Topics range from specific technological courses to effective time management, and aim to enhance your personal effectiveness and skill set. Heerema sends a select group of people to the renowned IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. The school's highly ranked executive management programs challenge our employees to stay and think ahead of the business.

Your remuneration consists of a salary and generous benefits both of which show we take good care of our people. Your fixed salary depends on what function group your position belongs to and your experience on the job. Jobs are categorized into function groups using the internationally recognized Hay method, which looks at how a job contributes to the realization of the company goals. Our salary levels are regularly benchmarked with the industry and market, and are competitive. For offshore staff and specialized staff in our construction facilities taylor-made compensation is based on shifts. While your salary reflects your level of expertise, we reward personal performance and the overall success of the company. Each division has its own Economic Added Value (EVA) based bonus scheme. This bonus is related to the companies’ objectives and translated into targets. Another part of your bonus is linked to your personal performance assessed through the Performance Management process. While we believe in providing you with a solid income, we also think it’s is important to secure your income in case of sickness, disability or retirement. Other benefits that cover these situations are in place in each division. Our fringe benefits make our benefits package especially generous. We have listened to our employees and monitored the market. Therefore we offer you components tailored to the position you are in and to the local situation of the country you work in.
